SCL Direct are proud to offer yet another Nightsearcher range of products, the Ecostar LED floodlights. These offer a high light output from a single LED chip and are available in 10, 30, 50 and 70 watt models.

Each offering an exceptional energy efficiency of 100 lumen’s per watt light output, with a total efficiency of over 90%. This far exceeds halogen and even fluorescent lamp floodlights. The 50 watt EcoStar floodlight has a light output equivalent to a 500 watt Halogen floodlight, using around 90% less power. A life expectancy of 50,000 hours ensures no lamps changes, minimising maintenance costs.

A clear white light (7,000 Kelvin) offers excellent colour rendering, almost turning night in to day. This is ideal for use with CCTV cameras or for excellent visibility when used as a work light. The LED light source has a 120 degree beam, which reduces the need for more floodlights when covering wider areas. A low surface temperature also improves safety, if used in close proximity.

The electronic control gear has an operating range of 90 to 240 volt 50Hz, which means the EcoStar range can be operated from either a 110 volt generator or 230 volt mains.

All models will shortly be available with an integrated PIR for even better control. LED floodlights are an instant light source, so are ideal for use with PIR’s as security lighting.

For work light applications, 1.7 metre and 3.5 metre tripods are available as optional extras.

The Nightwatcher range of security lights offers the unique feature of tracking movement with a robotic floodlight head. A 210 degree PIR sensor with a 10 metre range will will direct the floodlight head to the activation area and then track any movement in the detection zone. Ideal for use with CCTV cameras.

SCL Direct are pleased to be the first online retailer to announce the Nightsearcher Maxi Solaris, a new addition to the rechargeable portable  floodlights range from Nightsearcher.

The Maxi Solaris has an 18 Cree LED light head  producing 1,500 lumens on full power with a 30 degree wide beam, this can be effective up to 100 metres. A full charge from the standard 24A/h power pack of 7 hours will enable the floodlight to run for 9 hours on full power or 20 hours on low power (900 lumens).The power pack has green, amber and red LED battery status indicators and will flash red when the battery is low and requires recharging.  An optional 38A/h power pack is also available for longer running times.

The LED’s are 6,000 kelvin colour temperature and as such produce near natural daylight, ideal for correct colour identification. As with most LED light sources the head runs very cool and is even safe to touch, unlike halogen or even fluorescent light sources.

The adjustable height pole has a minimum height of 850mm(2ft 9 inches)  to a full height of 2.2 metres (6ft 6 inches). An overall weight of  11.6kg makes this unit easily carried by one person.

All this for a very attractive price of £450 ex VAT, making this the most affordable way to have a Nightsearcher Solaris head powered portable rechargeable floodlight.

This time it’s the ever popular 300 Watt receiver floodlight complete with a wireless battery operated PIR and a hand held remote control,stock code TRSKIT04.

A typical installation for this kit would be a back garden or driveway, the floodlight mounted at 3-4 metres high with the wireless PIR sensor mounted 2 metres high for the optimal 12 metre range.

The PIR sensor can be mounted higher, but this will shorten the field of range. A 110 degree fan shaped area detection area provides good coverage. The PIR sensor has an adjustable time on of 5 seconds to 12 minutes, a recommended time on would be 1-2 minutes. The hand held remote control enables you to manually switch the light on and off from up to 70 metres in open air conditions, this will reduce when the radio signal is travelling through solid objects such as brick walls. This should still operate to 20 metres approximately through such objects.

In response to customer requests for branded products, we have floodlights that are manufactured by Ansell Lighting. All the Metal Halide and Sodium floodlights are fitted with Venture control gear, backed by a 3 year warranty, with matching lamp. Venture Lighting are one of Europe’s leading manufacturer of quality ballasts, control gear components and discharge lamps.

This range of floodlights includes the ever popular 70 watt Sodium, which can be supplied with a factory fitted Royce Thompson electronic photocell for automatic dusk till dawn operation.

Coastal and exposed locations are catered for by the IP65 polycarbonate body range of floodlights. An optional stainless steel wall bracket is available for this range, offering greater protection for the fixing to walls etc. This range features 70 to 400 watt versions in Sodium, Metal Halide are available in 250 and 400 watts.

SCL Direct is proud to be the first online store to offer a 270 LED PIR Security floodlight just in time for the dark nights. This outdoor security light has a powerful light output which is a genuine replacement for a 300 watt Tungsten Halogen floodlight. We doubted the claim at first, but once wired up in our little testing area (The work bench at the other end of the warehouse) the claim was proved.  An area of about 8-10 metres square was lit up to a good above ambient light level.
The light is a cool white 4000K so true colours are seen, ideal for use with colour CCTV cameras. The PIR sensor has a 12 metre range with a 110 detection area. This can be adjusted for the “on time” from 20 seconds to 12 minutes, The light switching level can also be adjusted to enable the unit to come on at dusk levels or total darkness.

The main benefits of LED floodlights are the minimal power consumption, this unit only uses 18 watts when illuminated. The other being the life of the LED’s, these should last well over 30,000 hours use. That could be up to 10 years of normal use.

LED’s are an instant light source illuminating at full power, unlike the compact fluorescent PIR security floodlights. They come on at around 70% not reaching full brightness for up to a minute. Not always ideal for the purpose of a PIR security floodlight.
